A Safe, Accessible, and Preferred Voting Option

All registered voters in Los Angeles County will be mailed a Vote by Mail ballot. Vote in the safety of your home by returning your Vote by Mail ballot.

Mailing of Vote by Mail ballots begins no later than 29 days prior to Election Day.

How to Return your Ballot

There are multiple options on how to return your ballot:

If your ballot is postmarked by Election Day and received within 7 days (EC, § 3020(b).) by our Department we will process, verify and count that ballot.

How to Track your Ballot

Receive personalized text messages, emails and/or automated voice messages on your Vote by Mail ballot by subscribing to Where's My Ballot. This is a free service available to all registered voters that gives you updated information on where your ballot is and when you can expect to receive it.

Request a Replacement Ballot

We can send you a replacement Vote by Mail ballot to your current residence or temporary address for this election. This is a one-time request and will not permanently change your voter registration. The last day to request a replacement ballot is Tuesday, October 29.

Do You Need a Representative to Pick Up Your Vote By Mail Ballot?

Voters who need or require a representative to pick up a Vote by Mail ballot must complete and return the Representative Replacement Vote by Mail Ballot Application.

The Representative's Statement (step 8) needs to be signed in the presence of the Registrar staff. This application must be provided in person to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk by the voter's representative. The voter's representative will be issued the voter's replacement Vote by Mail ballot the same day.

Returning a Paper Application

Paper applications must be returned to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Once our office receives and processes the request, a new Vote by Mail ballot will be issued to the address provided on the application.

Request a Ballot in a Different Language

L.A. County provides full language service and/or assistance in up to 18 languages.

Signature Verification and Missing Signature on Vote by Mail Ballots

We understand as years go by your signature is bound to change. If the signature on your Vote by Mail return envelope doesn't match what is in our voter registration database, or if you returned your ballot without signing the envelope we will notify you by mail. In case of a mismatch or unsigned ballot, we ask you complete and return the Signature Verification and Unsigned Ballot Statement.

Your signature is required to verify your identity and process the ballot.
