Language Accessibility Advisory Committee
The Language Accessibility Advisory Committee (LAAC) was established in 2017 to assist the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk on issues related to language accessibility of elections and election materials, as well as implementing activities and strategies to ensure voters with limited English proficiency have equal access to the election process.
Responsibilities
- Attend LAAC quarterly meetings. Meetings will be available by telephone conference line, but participants are strongly encouraged to attend at least half of the meetings in person
- Provide advice to overcome vote center language accessibility concerns
- Promoting language accessibility outreach initiatives
- Assist in surveying vote center multilingual services
- Make recommendations related to bilingual vote center worker trainings
- Providing expertise on reviewing election materials in the identified languages
