Marriage Records In-Person Appointment
Records are available for marriages where the license was issued in Los Angeles County since 1852.
If the license was issued outside of Los Angeles County or California, click here.
Confidential marriage records may only be obtained by the parties to the marriage or by court order. If you are not a party to the marriage, you cannot obtain a copy of a confidential marriage record.
Make an Appointment
Appointments can be scheduled up to three (3) weeks in advance.
Save your confirmation number once you complete the application. You will need it to book your appointment.
Once your application is submitted, you need to make an appointment. Select Make an Appointment and make sure to complete the required waiver.
Remember to bring a valid photo ID.

When Will I Receive My Copy?
- 1995 to the present: on your scheduled appointment
- 1852-1994: are mailed within 20 business days from the date the request is received
- All Informational Certified Copies: are mailed within 20 business days from the date the request is received
Fees and Payment Options
- Certified Copy of a Public Marriage Record: $17 per copy
- Certified Copy of a Confidential Marriage Record: $17 per copy
The fee is nonrefundable. A "No Record Statement" will be issued if the record is not found.
We accept:
- Cash
- Check: Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Valid identification of the signer is required at time of purchase.
- Money order: Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
- Debit/Credit card: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa ($1.75 service fee and maximum limit of $15,000)
- Apple Pay and Samsung Pay: ($1.75 service fee and maximum limit of $15,000)
We do not accept:
- E-Check
- Temporary check
- Foreign check (with the exception of Canada and Mexico)
