Register
To register and file as a new or renewing Notary Public in Los Angeles County, you will need to provide the following:
- Original or copy of your commission certificate (issued by the Secretary of State)
- Original Notary bond for $15,000 (bond must have wet signature)
- Two original unsigned oath of office forms (name on forms must match ID being presented)
- Government issued identification (in person filings only)
- Filing fee
- Names on commission, bond, and oath must be exactly the same
Fees
- $43 registration and bond recording fee (includes clerk's fee of $16, filing fee of $7, $20 for the first page
- $3 for each additional page of the bond
- $3 for each backside of a page
In-Person Appointment
Appointments can be scheduled up to three (3) weeks in advance. Have your commissioner number and bond number available to secure the appointment.
Mail Requests
To request that Notary Bond and Oath be processed by mail, the oath must be notarized by a notary in the county of Los Angeles. You must include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of any conformed copies.

Payment Options
We accept:
- Cash
- Check: Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Valid identification of the signer is required at time of purchase.
- Money order: Make payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
- Debit/Credit card: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa ($1.75 service fee and maximum limit of $15,000)
- Apple Pay and Samsung Pay: ($1.75 service fee and maximum limit of $15,000)
We do not accept:
- E-Check
- Temporary check
- Foreign check (with the exception of Canada and Mexico)
If an E-Check, temporary or foreign check is received, the request will be rejected and sent back to the submitter requesting a new method of payment.
