Individual Process Server Registration
In-Person Appointment
Process Server registration appointments can be scheduled up to three (3) weeks in advance.
How to Apply
Designated kiosks will be available in our Norwalk Headquarters to complete your application. You can also fill out and print the Individual Certificate of Registration as a Process Server application and bring it with you to your appointment. You must make an appointment before you arrive.
Once you complete the application at the kiosk, go to window #6.
Pictures for temporary and/or permanent identification cards will be taken at the time of registration.
Requirements
The registrant must appear in person and meet the following requirements:
- Possess a valid, government-issued picture identification (such as a driver’s license or passport)
- The principal place of business or residential address must be located in Los Angeles County
- Present a bond in the amount of $2,000 naming the registrant as principal, providing the term of two (2) years, commencement date and expiration date
- Pursuant to Business and Professions Code § 22350, 22351.5 :
- The registrant will be required to submit a completed Request for Live Scan application form confirming fingerprint submission to the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to verify the registrant has not been convicted of a felony
- A 90-day temporary identification card will be issued until Live Scan results from the Department of Justice have been reviewed and accepted
- Thereafter, the permanent identification card will be issued
- Registrants can download the Process Server Request for Live Scan Application or obtain it in person at the County Clerk's office
