Where Divorce Records Are Available

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk does NOT record or house divorce records or information.

Divorce records for marriages dissolved in Los Angeles County are maintained by the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. The majority of divorce filings have been imaged and are available electronically, either online or at courthouse kiosks. Divorce Records Outside of Central Los Angeles

Divorce filings outside of the Central Los Angeles area can take five or more years for transfer to the Archives. Records are transferred to the Archives when storage space at the courthouses becomes limited. The Archives can be contacted by phone at (213) 830-0198 or in-person at 222 North Hill St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. Some divorce records are available online.
