Los Angeles County Wildfire Recovery Resources
Voter Registration for Those Impacted by the Wildfires
If you’ve been temporarily displaced by the recent wildfires, you do not need to change your voter registration. You can continue to use your permanent residential (home) address and add a temporary mailing address to receive your voting materials while away from home.
This ensures your voting districts remain the same, so you can still vote on local issues that impact your home community.
If you’ve permanently relocated and choose to register at a new address, your voting districts may change, affecting the contests and measures on your ballot in future elections.
How to Update Your Mailing Address on Your Voter Registration
You have two simple options to update your mailing address:
Option 1: Online
-
Enter your residential (home) address in the “Home Address” section.
-
In the “Mailing Address” section, check the box that says your mailing address is different from your home address.
-
Enter your temporary mailing address.
Important: Only update your mailing address. Do not change your home address unless you have permanently relocated. Your home address determines your voting districts.
Option 2: Phone
Submitting a change of address to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS)
If you've submitted a change of address to USPS, we may receive that update and send you a notice asking you to confirm your residential and mailing addresses. This is to ensure your voter registration remains accurate and up to date. No action is taken until we hear back from you.

Local Assistance Centers (LAC) / Disaster Recovery Centers (LAC/DRC)
We are working closely with county departments and organizations to provide comprehensive support at Local Assistance Centers. Our staff are present to assist with requests for vital records (birth, death, marriage certificates), property records, and business filings.
Beginning April 30, 2025, L.A. County offices will no longer be based at LAC or DRC sites, as these locations will transition to federal use.
